Top Law Schools

I have been hearing that if you attend a second or third tier law school, and do well in your first year (top 5-10%) you have a good chance of transfering to a school thats a higher tier?

My question is how would this work? I know the applications begin coming in around November of that school year, and if you finish your first year around May. How would it be possible to apply to transfer for your second year when its only a few months away? Would you need to take a year off?

Also, are LSAT score and Under grad GPA (my undergrad is pretty low) factored into the decision for transfer admissions even if you finish top 5% your first year?

Do not go to a school you won't be happy graduating from. Transferring is not common.

still, i heaved a great sigh when i saw this topic. i think someone asked about this just yesterday or the day before and everyone went through the usual rigmarole. to avoid that, use the search function!
