Either way it's .01 of a point, however I feel like 3.89 to 3.9 is more symbolically substantial. If nothing else, the .01 bump there makes your GPA look a lot closer to Yale's median.

So what do you think? Does it matter? Worth doing some community college courses this summer to achieve?

.01 matters, just not significantly.

i think there's some truth to this.

a 159 doesn't look terrible next to a 160

a 169 doesn't look as pretty as a 170

There's a reason that As Seen on TV stuff is priced at $19.99 instead of $20.00.

However, your GPA will get lumped into your academic index with your LSAT score, so the psychological difference won't be nearly as influential there as it is when you're buying a Snuggie (or even on your LSAT score). In my opinion, minimal difference.

Depends what the medians are of the school you're applying to and how good your LSAT is.

Not sure if you were trying o equate the situations but there's a huge difference between bumping up your LSAT by a point and bumping up your GPA .01
