I'm sure I'm not the only one in this situation, I'm curious to hear your thoughts.

I have two professors I'm somewhat close to that I want to ask to write my letters of rec. The issue? I'm planning on taking one (or even two) years off before starting my cycle. What's proper procedure on this? Asking them to write it now while they still know me and put it on file? Coming back in two years and being like "heeeey, remember that one time I was in your symposium class?"

yeah dude! one of my recommenders wrote me a letter a full year before i applied for LS because i wanted him to write it during/right after i had 2 classes with him. you just have to pay for the credential assembly service but you have to do that anyway at some point and i think it lasts for about 4 years
