Florida Coastal pulled an interesting con.They notified him that if he applies and gets accepted, they will award him an $6,000 scholarship. However, when he got accepted, they sent him a letter noting that the scholarship was all loans! Am I missing something here?

the hint shouldve been Florida Coastal's offering a scholarship even before "he" applied

Yeah considering FGCU doesn't have a law program. I'm inclined to agree.

He ate dinner and then he drank wine and he was offered a free ticket to the moon, which he obviously declined because they are not inclined to treat him with respect and give him his due once he arrives, so he decided to go to Canada instead where he can drink soda pop in peace.

Can anyone explain to me how this can be the case? How can he simply go to Canada and why not travel to Mars?

I am absolutely sure there was an asterisk and 5 point type at the bottom explaining why he wouldn't get the scholly even before he clicked on the link.

Also, taxguy, honestly and seriously: Why didn't your son apply to Cooley? With his GPA he would've had an actual, guaranteed scholarship (1/2 tuition if I remember your sons stats correctly). Also Cooley has a good alumni network (they are remarkably proud) and is better than Florida Coastal. Seriously, they are. And, also, IMO if you can't be famous, be notorious. Better than being nothing.

He didn't applly to Cooley for several reasons:

First they are renown for horrible grading. This would probably prevent any transfers.

Secondly, he wants to work in Florida. Thus, attending a Florida Law School is probably the better option

Third, he would hate the climate in Michigan.

Fourth, Cooley is actually more expensive, not counting the scholarship, not to mention that he probably wouldn't get much of a scholarship. Thus, if he loses the scholarship,which seems likely based on their grading policy, he might have to pay more than that of other schools.

Believe me , this was well thought out.

I understand for profits, thank you. Believe me, although he will have a guaranteed job regardless of which law school he attends, I am hoping he will have other options besides Florida Coastal.

Serious, non-trolling question: if he has a guaranteed job after graduation and it doesn't matter where he goes to school, why does he need to go to school in Florida?

well thought out would be retaking and reapplying to different schools
