Top Law Schools

I always thought that there are three approaches that a law school can take regarding an applicant.

*Accept
*Reject
* Wait list.

I just found out about a fourth approach,which is the biggest scam around: Not get admitted,but take summer classes. If they pass the summer classes with a 2.5 GPA or better, they are admitted. This might sound reasonable for those who didn't do well on the LSAT,but there are two BIG catches:

First, 70% of the kids who take these classes do not get in. The grading curve must be brutal.
Secondly, despite paying the normal law school tuition, some schools...caugh.....Widener....caugh, don't transfer the credits even though the courses are taken at the law school! I guess if someone is REALLY desparate, it might be viable,but it does seem like a big scam.

i think only really bad schools opt for this

is there a list of schools that do this? I know some TTTT do- but i would be shocked if any reputable schools did.

Isn't this the CLEO program?

florida coastal does it

All Canadian schools do so for aboriginal applicants in fact I will be attending the program this summer even though I have an unconditional offer. If done right I don't view it as a scam but as an opportunity, NON-Transferability is clearly BS, I will have my Property law requirement plus some extra support to help me prepare for L1. That being said I can figure that US school would turn something that can be great and helpful in to a scam

I urge anyone thinking about these type of programs to look at both the curve and pass requirement. They can be brutal.

If you think about it, CLEO could actually be worse. You could graduate #1 from CLEO and still not get into the school you want to. Doing well at CLEO does not guarantee that a school will accept you.

Sorry to be so ignorant,but what is a "Cleo" program?

I don't think that Widener's additional admission's hurdle is a scam; in my opinion, it is better viewed as an opportunity for those who do not qualify for admission based on their numbers. Would you prefer a rejection ?
