Letter of Continued Interest

Post by kitchuel » Mon Mar 28, 2011 4:18 pm

I applied in January and I still have not heard back from some schools. Should I write a letter of continued interest to the schools along with my final grades (I graduated like a week ago)?

Yes, it hasn't helped me but it has helped others

Some folks are anti- sending in LOCIs before a decision has been made because it makes you look over-anxious and you may need it if you're waitlisted. I generally disagree with this, unless you've got nothing especially meaningful going on in your life (ex: job, special projects, volunteer experiences, conversations with faculty members, etc.)

Always make it a point to have some progress to share everytime you make contact, send to general admissions, and also to someone with decisionmaking power (presumably) who you know will acknowledge receipt (and maybe remember you down the line).

Should I send letters via e-mail or snail mail?

It may depend on how the school you're applying to processes information. You can call and ask their preference.

If you anticipate a decision or IR soon, I'd email.
