More money after seat deadlines?

Just wondering whether anybody here has had the experience of receiving more scholarship money, or scholarship money (from those schools not generous enough to give the first time) from schools after the first seat deposit deadline?

I'm in a similar position trying to negotiate more money after a seat deposit currently. I had no luck with it from other schools before deadlines so I'm not hopeful. I think it can still be successful though, perhaps even moreso than before given that some of the offered money is now unallocated from students who didn't put a deposit in. Just make it clear that you aren't fully onboard yet despite your deposit, but that you would dearly like to be.

I'm curious about this too. Does anyone have any experiences with this?

There are two sides to this concept. On the one hand, you typically negotiate scholarships before making a financial commitment (i.e. seat deposit) because it shows you are still debating where to go. But if you make the commitment via seat deposit, the school may feel like it has less to lose by not offering any more money.

On the other hand, the above poster had a good point in that after the deposit deadline passes, money that had been previously allocated to students who did not put down the seat deposit will become available.

Personally, if I were on the other end, I wouldn't give any more money after you put a deposit down. The prevailing wisdom is that you only put down one deposit (though certainly multiple deposits is more common that one would think). If that is the case, an adcomm no longer needs to woo you, so to speak.

Giving more money after a seat deposit is like a car salesman throwing in a second set of tires after he made the sale. He wouldn't do it, because the sale has been closed and has no reason to provide further incentives.

I think both make sense. Money might flow to those who have indicated they want more even with a small deposit....

Was that from continuing LOCIs or through their own initiative after you deposited?
