Funny how the article predicts an end of a biglaw era while conceding that "her fiancé, who went to a more highly regarded law school, found a job at a prestigious midtown firm..." South Carolina Grad can't get a job in NYC and that is news? That wouldn't have been news in 2003. Perhaps she can move to SoCal and convince some firm that she has a degree from USC.

I was just wondering if OP actually read the article.

In this article we discover:

-South Carolina grads don't do well in NYC biglaw (shocking, I know).
-The legal market suffered when the economy suffered (again, quite shocking).
-50 of 300 current 3Ls at NYU who are looking for private firm work have not found a job yet. Another way of saying that is 5 out of 6 NYU students who want biglaw have already secured such jobs before graduating (and that's bad?).
-People who describe themselves as not being "especially passionate about being a lawyer" tend to struggle in NYC, a ridiculously competitive market.
