Are there examples of these types of splitters being awarded decent money (over 50% tuition ride) by T-14 law schools?

Or is it the case that unless you're above (or at) both the school's median LSAT and GPA, you won't be seriously considered for free money?

I'm interested in this also. I will be a splitter after June.

I'm a 173/3.6. Above LSAT median and below GPA median for all the T14 schools.

So far I have 67.5k from Mich and 54k from Duke. So yes it's very possible!

LSN has a good search tool that allows you to search applicants and limit results to those receiving scholarships, although you can only search one school at a time.

How low of a GPA are we talking here? I've looked into this because my GPA is a bit low for the T14. It seems that some schools are more generous than others, but it is definitely not impossible to get some money if you are below one median. MVD seem like the most friendly to splitters but once you get below ~3.4 you can't really expect much.
Should note that this is entirely different for URM.

I'm an AA male with a 2.99 LSDAS. Retaking in June, currently with a 166 from Oct. '10. My PT range has been 172-175. Any thoughts if I land within this range in June?

Not 50% as in the OP but I got 54k(~40%) at umich with a 3.49/173.

3.4x, 175 here. Acceptances, but no merit aid from T14, though I have gotten offers, some fairly large, from T20 schools.

The LSAT holds a weight so significant in the admissions process that each LSAT point increase after 170 could be said to count roughly the same as 0.1 GPA points.

Is this true?

There are soooo many variables in this that there's no way anyone can give you a good answer.

It varies a lot, but generally 1 LSAT point is going to be more helpful than .1 GPA (not just above 170). A 168/3.4 is probably going to do better at most schools than a 167/3.5. With that said, a lot depends on schools' medians and 25th and 75th percentiles. A 176/3.8 is probably going to have a better cycle than a 177/3.7. Once you're above a school's median or at/above a school's 75th percentile, it is generally a story of diminished returns for those extra points: it is generally better to have a GPA that is at/above median with an LSAT score at the 75th percentile rather than a GPA below median and an LSAT score a few points higher than the 75th percentile.

To the OP: As stated earlier, Hourumd.com is generally the best site to look up scholarship info for score ranges. The downside is the "new" data is a little old, and you need to really ignore the really old data that is pulled up. Thus, do searches through LSN for newer cycles, even though the search function is a headache for stuff like this.

Also- Both Michigan and UVA seem to have thrown money at splitters in the past, as long as the GPA isn't too bad and the LSAT is ~172+. You won't get a full scholarship anywhere in the T14 with splitter stats, but a few schools like to give up to 1/2 scholarships to splitters with high LSAT scores. If you want to have a full scholarship as a splitter, either WUSTL or UIUC is your place.

This is obviously flawed/likely a flame, as it excludes anyone who got more than a million dollars in scholarships.

Being way below a school's GPA median definitely does not preclude significant scholarship opportunities. Obviously it differs from school to school, but many T14's would still consider you for their biggest scholarships...depending on the exact numbers
of course (not to mention soft factors, which can play a big role for some scholarships.)

3.2/176 here and debating trying to establish VA residency for next year. I figured if I were in state at UVA, they might throw me money, but based on my cycle this year, I'm not even into a T14 yet, and I'm definitely not expecting any $$ from Cornell or lolColumbia if I do squeeze in. All the people I know below a 3.3 are in a similar boat re scholarships, if not also acceptances. Anecdotal evidence for your enjoyment.

It's not really a linear equation. For example, I had 2.8/176. I wouldn't get into some schools a 3.4/170 would. But I got into a school a 3.5/169 couldn't.

And for scholarships that holds up even less.

3.4 and below you are paying sticker most likely.

3.0 and below and nobody is giving you a full ride in the T1.
