I am still waiting on a school and was considering drafting them a LOCI. IS that too much? or a good idea?

I think too much before the decision comes out. It might push you back depending on the school system. so it causes your file to be reviewed somewhat later. My friend is also applying to law schools, and she said she does not want to bother schools. She just called the Admission office once a month to check out the overall process.
In conclusion, Just kill your time whatever you want

The general consensus around these forums seems to be don't send a LOCI until you hear some kind of decision--i.e., hold or waitlist.

I know the wait is hard, but you have to wait. LOCI's are only for people who are still interested AFTER they were waitlisted or held. The thinking is that if they send in a LOCI and someone else doesn't, they would be ahead of that other person. Sort of the same logic applied to a "why x," just in this case, an LOCI is after the decision.

If it is your top choice school, I recommend it. Just into NYU after nearly 4 months. I believe they four LOCI I wrote about updates with honors and activities, as well as talking about what I liked about the school helped. So write the LOCI as a mini Why X statement. Then repeat every few weeks
