T13 Advocates - In defense of UT

T13 Advocates,

You’re idiots. Simple, little, moronic idiots. You hate Texas, a state most of you have never visited and hopefully never will, because of a past U.S. president and a reputation built by the media, movies, and sound bites from an idiot of a governor.

If you’d actually lived or spent enough time in Austin, the location of UT School of Law, you’d know that you’re more likely to see two bare-foot lesbians walking down the street, wearing Obama shirts than you are to see anything resembling a cowboy.

If you went to UT you’d know that placement is in fact national for those in the top 10% and also national for those above median with local ties (everyone else is f*cked, just like they are at UCLA and Vandy). You’d also know that because in-state tuition remains less than 30K a year, you’re probably less f*cked than the similarly positioned shmuck at Vandy or Georgetown.

If you were fortunate enough to have good grades, you would probably know that 160K in Texas would carry you a lot farther than 160K in New York or Los Angeles, and you’d certainly enjoy your awesome cost of living in one of the most kick ass cities in the US.

If you went to UT you’d wonder why the same people who advise others to mind their debt when choosing a law school would have a problem with a very quality law school with an excellent price entering the “hallowed grounds of the T14.”

If you went to Texas you would realize that as happy as you may be to know that your school is now “T14”, no one else at UT really cares, you still have no lay prestige (even in your own state), your job prospects are the same, and the only people who do care are non-residents at other law schools.

But I’m sure that none of this makes any difference to you people because you’re not the type to let little things like facts get in the way of your perfectly good stereotype. And why is that? Because you’re simple, little, moronic idiots. You’ve never been to Texas and you hopefully never will. And it’s better than way. We don’t want you here because you’d probably just f*ck up everything anyway.

You may all go to hell; I shall remain in Texas.

I don't agree with the OP's tactics here but like the message.

It's wicked cute that OP doesn't know what the T14 designation actually meant.

In all fairness whether or not u think Texas should be a t14, I don't think the t13 sentiment has anything to do with posters not liking Texas, because back when boalt was ranked 6 almost everyone said it wasnt a true t6, if Texas stays in the t14 and it's placement catches up with the t14 then it will be treated as one but one year of rankings is not gonna change tls' collective mind

Whew, I was actually really siced to apply to UT just for the chance to see cowboys. I'm glad I didn't hold out for that now.

I don't understand this ruckus. I thought that the t-14 are the schools that have placed in the t-14 consistently and historically, not schools that occasionally breach the surface (like UCLA in the 80's).

But the more important question is this: "who cares either way?" Texas people love Texas, and it's my understanding that UT has rad placement in Texas. If at this very moment recruiters and hiring partners at top firms across the nation were all flipping out like traders on the New York Stock Exchange floor, screaming, "TEXAS! TEXAS! GET ME MORE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS! THEY'RE IN! THEY'RE T-14 NOW!!!! HIRE THEM ALL!," then I would say it mattered. But that's not the way it is. Caring so much about the ranking of your school indicates that you're insecure about its quality...and nobody should be insecure about the quality of UT.

Hold on a minute there. T13 advocates hate GULC. Texas is just collateral damage.

This.

If anything it supports including GULC in the Texas/Vandy/UCLA grouping
