And how many of those years were pre-ITE - though the senior lawyers didn't take a salary hit like the associates did , so maybe ITE isn't relevant?
Wonder what the debt load of those people were?

lol at ppl taking this super seriously. This data comes from self-reported payscale data. Cute to look at but by no means definitive.

Has anyone figured out how BU is ranked #5 and BC isn't even on the list? Smells like bullshit to me.

I'd actually say that the biggest problem with this data is the group its centered on. 45 year olds? So, people who've been practicing for 20 years... people who started their careers in a completely different legal market. What would be useful is a crystal ball that can tell me what this chart will look like in 20 years.terrybhs06 wrote:lol at ppl taking this super seriously. GSU is relatively new. And its in Atlanta compared to the bigger markets that Rutgers/Santa Clara feed in to . I dunno.drmguy wrote:A few people are surprised about Georgia but the major outliers here seem to be Santa Clara and Rutgers-Camden. No surprise there?

Am I the only one really astounded by Santa Clara University tying Georgetown at 13? WTF?
Also, GWU behind American? WTF?

Amen. If I were to conduct a survey of guys in their mid-40's I know who are Harvard grads, average comp would be ballpark $2 million, but that's also a skewed sample. Those guys aren't slumming around some TTT website like payscale bragging about making first or second year associate comp.terrybhs06 wrote:lol at ppl taking this super seriously. Mid career success does not exist in isolation but typically requires early success (getting on an upward trajectory right out of law school) as a prerequisite.Drake014 wrote:I'd actually say that the biggest problem with this data is the group its centered on. 45 year olds? Every one of these mid career professionals went to law school in a vastly different era.
For those just beginning law school, you have to look 20 years into the future, a future where law schools currently struggling with Big Law or clerkship placement (hello Michigan) will not fare very well.
To put it bluntly, any school located in either the Midwest (- maybe Chicago) or California is probably not going to be on the 2041 version of this list.
Stanford places well because of Silicon Valley. The "Silicon Valley" of the future is in...Shenzhen China.

I've just consulted the Oracle. Here is the 2044 "top law schools for getting rich"
1. Harvard
2. Yale
3. Columbia
4. Duke
5. University of Virginia
6. NYU
7. University of Pennsylvania
8. Vanderbilt
9. University of Texas, Austin
10. Emory
Watch as the South rises...and the elites get more elite.

BU has always come up higher than BC when talking about the top top firms. Not sure why.

The state of CA has one of the 10 largest economies in the world; it might not be so relatively huge in 30 years, but it's still going to be huge. If it's not...well, it probably won't matter where you went to school if you're still in the USA.niederbomb wrote: To put it bluntly, any school located in either the Midwest (- maybe Chicago) or California is probably not going to be on the 2041 version of this list.

Your argument on self-reporting is non-responsive to the fact that Yale is #33. Why didn't those guys show up?theghostofDrewTate wrote:Amen.
