Top Law Schools

So while I'm a splitter myself (3.5/172) because I have already been accepted to some t14 schools and a plethora of t25 schoos, this thread is more for some advice that I will give to one of my students (I tutor the LSAT privately). The student in question has some serious potential as she got over a 160 in her first diag, but the only problem is that she has a GPA of lower than 2.7 from a mediocre state school. I am confident that she eventually will be able to score in the 170s. I know that schools like WUSTL and NU ed (w/ work experience) do well to accommodate applicants with high LSATs but sub 3.0 GPAs. Any other schools that you would recommend for my student, a potential extreme-splitter, to apply for next year?

perhaps UVA ED? although UVA doesn't seem to take many sub-2.7s...

Mid-western schools tend to be very splitter-friendly for some reason. If your student hits 170+, she'll get very generous scholarships to UIUC, IU--Bloomington, Iowa, UMinn etc.

It seems though that UIUC WLs a lot of their 170+/2.7s

Similar GPA and a 170+ here. I got a generous scholarship at IUB, but WL at UIUC and UMinn FWIW.

With a 2.4/175 I got WL'd at IUB but 60k at WUSTL.

do any t14s regularly admit sub2.7/170s?

unless she's working on a successful cure for AIDS, i don't think that's happening. 2.7 is hella rough...............

probably Northwestern if the person has work experience. Everywhere else (t14s) not so much

better bet for ED than UVA. Actually didn't think of that one. I know of at least one 2.7/172 currently going to Georgetown. I also know of a 2.95??ish/171-172 who recently got waitlisted ED

the 2.7 is a nonURM

ETA: also an engineering major i believe, so.....

UVA doesn't take sub 3.0

Best t14 school she could get into barring URM status is NU with work experience. Maybe Georgetown if she ED's there. All other T14's are 100% out with a 2.7 GPA, no URM, no work experience, no cancer curing softs.

My T14 experience with those stats, non-URM, great WE: Cornell rejection, Georgetown rejection, UVa instate ED waitlist, NU admit.

All my apps were in halfway through October. Not ED at NU.

by defenition yes, since I was under the 25th percentile for my GPA and over the 75th percentile for my LSAT at some of the schools that I applied to...

from what i hear the best T14's for this is either NU ED w/ WE or GULC ED Part Time

haven't thought of this before, the PT program at GULC is 4-years right?

There are people who got in G-town as a full time student such as me, and I was a splitter

PT programs at most schools that have them have historically been easier to get into than FT, but thanks to USNWR now factoring the numbers for incoming PT students, this sadly may change.
