Letters of recomendation from students...
My decision was deferred at my top school and I really don't have much supplemental information to give them. I already sent a LOCI and was wondering what else I can send to increase my chance of acceptance. I read somewhere that additional letters sent directly to the school from alumni could be beneficial, the thing is that all the people I know at this school are 3ls. Should I have a few 3ls I know write me brief, informal letters of recommendation or could this be viewed as something negative?

If you worked FOR (not with) the alumni then go for it

Typically, i'd say send a great LOR by a prof./boss, etc. If you have none left, don't send the informal one you're thinking about.

That's definitely a bad idea, and a desperate-looking one if anything.

Yeah, I have chosen not to send anything informal. It is pretty stupid that they send me the deferred status letter last week and say it will be reviewed in March. I don't have enough time to get another LOR from a professor, even if i was to find someone who could have the letter done within a week by the time it is processed by LSAC it will be to late.99.9luft wrote:Typically, i'd say send a great LOR by a prof./boss, etc. If you have none left, don't send the informal one you're thinking about.
