Re: Backing out of ED contracts.
Aren't Canadian schools still members of LSAC? If so, I think it probably won't be possible.tng11 wrote:Here's a hypothetical question:
I know that if you are accepted ED by a school, you are bound to attend that school. If you back out, you're not allowed to matriculate at another law school.
If I were to back out of an ED contract and decide to attend a Canadian school, can they do anything to stop me from doing so? I know American schools will honor the ED contracts of their schools, but so far I haven't been able to find a case of an applicant backing out of ED and attending a Canadian (or other foreign) school.
That being said, if you really are unsure, ask the schools about their policy on this. Either way, you probably shouldn't have ED'ed.

A way to "back out" of ED would be to forgo matriculating anywhere this fall altogether.

Re: Backing out of ED contracts.
Then if you are considering backing out of an ED contract the obvious thing to do is not to sign the ED contract.tng11 wrote:I haven't applied this year, but probably will in 2012.bk187 wrote: Aren't Canadian schools still members of LSAC? If so, I think it probably won't be possible.

so you're trying to see if you can circumvent the rules that everyone else has to follow. really really cool, morontng11 wrote:I haven't applied this year, but probably will in 2012.bk187 wrote: Aren't Canadian schools still members of LSAC? If so, I think it probably won't be possible.
