well i am honestly aiming to stay within my region (Arizona State preferably) unless i can pull something amazing off. i understand that some schools (Cornell, for example) have been known to take the higher score, but i am not sure how likely it is that my score may jump that significantly for them to completely ignore my 159. Let's say that i was gunning for a school like William and Mary, any idea of how much i would have to jump on the LSAT to become accepted?

159 is one of those scores where just a few points makes a big difference, because it puts you into the 160 "range." That can mean a lot.

I'd say if you scored 5 points higher, you'd get completely different results.

generally a score of 165+ will increase your chances dramatically. However, the higher ranked the school- the better score you will need to be competitive.

Check out their website and try to get a glimpse of the entering class profile. you will see the breakdown of lsat and gpa ranges.

Also, go to lawschoolpredictor.com and play around with it. Put in your GPA and then put in different LSAT scores and see what it says. It tends to be fairly accurate. See what kind of difference a 164 or 165 would make, or a 169.

Everytime I think of LSP I think of ****ing stained glass windows and how I should be 4 points higher than I actually scored. LSP shows me going from a Consider to a straight Admit with those 4 extra points.

Story of my life. :sigh: My family and friends are puzzled at how depressed I've been over my 164 (90th %ile), but the reality is that answering just 3-4 few more questions correctly would have dramatically increased my chances at T20 and even some lower T14 schools, which with my current score, are all hopelessly out of reach.

OP: For William & Mary, I would say you'd be at a lock with a 165+. You have a decent GPA for them. If you end up scoring a little bit lower than that on your retake, don't despair! They do tend to be more holistic in the admissions process from what I've observed. For instance, they accepted and awarded a scholarship to a non-URM with a 160 and a 3.7 this cycle. http://lawschoolnumbers.com/brose

Oh yeah, and for ASU/U of A, a 162ish would be fine.
