Same here. While my No GPA neutrality and MexiURM might put me into Columbia's range... my 169 makes their advances laughable. It's no surprise that their first email to me was on the 19th, four days after the report on reduced number of applicants and LSAT takers.flepper wrote:I hope the dean hates reading through these too. But screw it. It's $12. I made sure to give them every possible attachment just to give them more to read

LOL, you just supplanted me with my MexiURM and 168. You owe me a $12 sandwich!geoduck wrote:

Re: Last Minute Fee Waiver??? Their Motivation...?
honestly everyone, for $12..... you never know.
we all know the selectivity rating and all but you just never know. maybe they'll accidentally put your file in the wrong pile and some lower ranked file clerk will accept you into the system and no one will know the difference. well until maybe 1L... when youre just like wtfomgggwhyyissthissssoooharrrddarrrrggggggggggg!!! or you can own it up and shove it in everyone's faces.
edit: and sometimes... you're more worthy than you choose to believe.

Órale pues. I'll grab you a sandwich at the Columbia cafeteria after we rock the late application cycle!flepper wrote:LOL, you just supplanted me with my MexiURM and 168. You owe me a $12 sandwich!geoduck wrote:

Do you go to Evergreen State? And while I'm not sure what you mean by "No GPA neutrality", but if you truly are URM, 169 probably isn't that out of the ballpark.geoduck wrote:Same here. Why didn't Swampthang get any Columbia blue love?!? Off to yell at misbehaving students and whip those Horace B. Smedley Tornadoes into shape in time for our big Thanksgiving game against Central...

Yep Evergreen state it is. If I do manage to get a run, it'll be a great surprise... But I'm not banking on it.

CLS wouldn't send you a waiver unless you had a decent shot.molomloch wrote:Yeah it's Columbia and my LSAT was 169 with that 4.0. I'm assuming I have little to no chance (I'm not an "URM"), so I'm just wondering what they hope to gain by encouraging me to apply~

Re: Last Minute Fee Waiver??? Their Motivation...?
100% not true. They don't know anything about you beyond GPA, LSAT, and URM status. Even then, non-URMs are getting waivers with numbers well below medians, heck, well below the 75th. I think all the low-number posters here are being realistic about their chances. FW has zero correlation to acceptance. It just means you get to ride for free so why not?PDaddy wrote:CLS wouldn't send you a waiver unless you had a decent shot.molomloch wrote:Yeah it's Columbia and my LSAT was 169 with that 4.0. Re: Last Minute Fee Waiver??? Their Motivation...?
What's their motivation?
As philosopher Enrique Iglesias aptly put,
I know you want me
I made it obvious that I want you too (Fee Waiver)
So put it on me (Apply)
Let's remove the space between me and you (ASW?)
Now rock your body (Fill that formz)
Damn I like the way that you move (Nice resumé)
So give it to me (Send via LSAC)
Cause I already know what you wanna do
Here's the situation (Under Review)
Been to every nation (International Applicants)
Nobody’s ever made me feel the way that you do (You are in)
You know my motivation
Given my reputation (ITS NOT A TRAP)
Please excuse me I don't mean to be rude
But tonight I'm loving you

Considering that "Tonight" is one of my favorite songs right now, I'm very pleased with that post!!! Also, while the chances of a lot of people getting fee waivers now are probably slim, I'm on the if you have $12 you might as well side. Especially if you're URM because not that many have been accepted that far (who post on TLS and LSN), so they apparently weren't that excited about the pool they already have. Plus CLS is insane this cycle, so even the people with the numbers have had issues getting in. With that being said, I still agree that a lot of it was probably just to drive up their selectivity. Good luck to everyone who decided to throw in an app!

Someone should submit this to a law school journal. This is unethical.

Re: Last Minute Fee Waiver??? Their Motivation...?
Yes, hate to rain on everyone's parade, but I'm already on hold at Columbia with a 176/3.6, and lots of others with similar or better numbers are as well. Seems like it's probably just a ranking/selectivity game...
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
