Waitlisted to Holding

My status checker changed from "Wait Listed" to "Holding for further review" in the same day. My first instinct is that they are one in the same, but if so what's the point in changing it from waitlisted to holding? Anyone know if there is a difference?

Holds are typically more favorable than WLs, the former meaning they haven't made up their mind yet, the latter meaning they only want you if they don't fill up their class with people they admitted.

It's very unusual that your status went from WL -> Hold, though. Maybe they're already reconsidering who they were going to put on the WL? Or maybe it was just an administrative error and you were always supposed to be held. Either way, hold is better than WL :D
