apply now or later?

Should I go to my schools accelerated Masters in econ BS/MA program and extend a year to apply in the fall of 2012 with a 3.4+(undergrad gpa) or should I apply this fall with a 3.2-3.3? I do not take the LSAT until this October. The one year extension would cost me nearly the same as undergrad tuition. If I don't break 170 I will not apply this fall no matter I will retake. If I break 170 I think I might just apply ED UVA and BU+fordham this fall is this a dumb idea?

If you take the lsat in october you won't be going to law school until 2012 either way. Why not do the mba program?

I would be applying this coming fall 2011 to start 2012 or the following fall 2012 to start 2013. Also its not an MBA its a masters in economics.

Confused too, how will your GPA go up like that? If you get a masters doing it, wouldn't that last year count as graduate school and therefore not count towards your undergraduate GPA? I really don't know how LSAC handles that situation.

let me clarify I could ether apply September of my senior year to attend the next academic year or I could apply the September of my masters in econ year. My gpa would increase as long as I keep a 3.5 average semester gpa my senior year. Grad gpas don't count

I see... that makes more sense. If you break 170, go ahead w/o the masters and apply if BU/Fordham sound good to you. Not sure you would get into UVA even with the ED. If you don't break 170, forget it, take the masters year and boost your gpa.

Thanks! That would be of if I got BU/Fordham and not UVA I kind of like city life more but I feel like I would have a slim shot to UVA by LSN and would always regret not applying to T14

i am in a similar bs/ma program. i graduate in may with both degrees. the lsdas gpa counts all classes taken before you graduate with your undergraduate degree, so since i graduate with both at the same time, my lsdas gpa includes my graduate degree. so if you are in a similar situation, your gpa will rise. the master's degree is also a nice soft to have.
