"Decision Rendered-Letter Sent" -is this good/bad/neither?

One of my status checkers updated to the above. Up until now I've only seen "admitted", "rejected", or waitlisted.
Do some schools simply not put "accepted" or "denied"? And just put that the decision was sent via mail, or does this status seem to mean that you've been rejected?

Neither, I believe. Some schools don't release their decision on their status checker.
Edit: For the schools that I applied to that used this status, it meant the letter was mailed - I received the letter within a few days.

I guess it's kindda good that they "care" about your feelings and would rather tell you via letter than on status checker, but then why even have the status checker at all?

It does actually.

Thanks.

That status on the status checker simply means that they have sent you a letter telling you of their decision. A lot of schools have patterns or waves that they send decisions in that can help you tell whether your letter is going to be an acceptance/rejection/waitlist.

Eh, the status checker still helps to know if your app is complete, that the decision has been made and that your letter has been mailed (rather than you just wondering if you're ever going to get a decision). I agree that is sucks that they don't just tell you though.
Good luck!

If it is Boston College, you didn't get in. Find the TSL thread for your school and see if admits are getting emails or calls rather than just mails.

Not BC. Looking for school specific thread now...

Still haven't received this letter. It's been a week now. Haven't checked mail yet today, but as of last night.

Do you think it matters what fees are listed under your status checker? Some say it matters and some say that not all schools use that feature on the status checkers.
Basically-if I got in would it necessarily have "seat deposit" listed under the fees box? Note: mine's currently blank there.

Nope- just depends on the school. Some status checkers have it, some don't

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm thinking when I get home today I should have the letter. I've noticed that some people on LS Numbers got there's yesterday, so I'm thinking it's today for me.

You need to post on here what the result is. I'm following this decision more closely than I'm following some of my own.

Yep, I'll probably get in the mail once I get home from work. Whatever the decision is, I'll certainly post (I know the feeling). Even if I don't get it, I'll make a post later tonight.

Got my letter in the mail today as I thought I would. I was rejected.

Not going to lie, this one felt bad. 4 rejections this week. It's been a tough one...

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck if there are any applications you are truly excited to hear back from.

Appreciate the words. I've had a few acceptances, but a week with only rejections stings.
