I want to apply to 2 reach/dream schools. But I'm a realistic person. Is a reach school a school where your numbers are both in 25%? One number in 25% and one number close? Etc?

I've been using LSAC's official GPA/LSAT probability search. I would define a "reach" school as a school in between that 25-50% range. Right/wrong?

Please advise.

I would say yes.

I would also say anywhere median LSAT is above what you have.

LSP consider is a good idea.

It's hard to define otherwise because each school behaves differently.

As a white male, I consider a reach school as any school that I am not at or above the median in both LSAT and GPA. As a URM, however, I would consider a reach school as any school at which your numbers are closer to the 25th percentile than median. I have seen some extreme cases on LSN where URMs were admitted with numbers a good bit below 25th percentile in both LSAT and GPA.

I'm a splitter. Should I even bother applying to schools that LSAC's official guide gives me around 25% chance at ?

I would say yes as long as your LSAT is at or above their median. They may be willing to absorb your lower gpa (assuming that is the nature of your split) for helping their median LSAT.
