Deferral Question... Help!

Post by rkirk » Wed Jan 05, 2011 3:59 pm

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a junior at Virginia Tech and I'm planning on going to law school (obviously), but I don't know when I should apply. I know for a fact that I want to do AmeriCorps or TFA (if I got into that) or some type of teaching type of deal for 1-2 years right after college. I was planning on applying during my senior year when everyone typically applies and then choosing a school and deferring admission (at least for those that would allow that). Is that a good plan or should I just wait to apply to places after my year or two off. I took the LSAT in December (still waiting for that goddamn score ha) to attempt to get it out of the way. I have a pretty good GPA (3.76), very involved, studying abroad, double major, etc. etc. but would applying during my senior year versus after my year or two off have any affect on my chances of admission to any schools or anything?

Thanks.

Schools don't like to offer deferrals. Just apply right before you plan on going, it'll be better that way.
