How to list pornography as work experience?

I've an acquaintance that spent four years starring in porn, and then producing. He got out of it, and now is thinking about law, but doesn't know if he should list it on his resume (and if he does, how he will do so).
He needs suggestions on how to list his duties/responsibilities on his resume...

I personally would not put it. Even people who watch it are uncomfortable with hearing about it or talking about it in public. I can't imagine an adcom who prides himself or herself on being professional getting a positive experience from reading about it. Heh

List it as what it is, acting and producing independent film.

It would make for an interesting candidate, which is what schools say they're looking for right?

This wouldn't necessarily hide what it was, depending on the name of the company, but it is probably the best idea to soften the blow.
On the whole, I think it would be best to put it. Not putting it leaves a 4 year gap where an applicant is doing "nothing" and I could see that as just as bad, if not worse. I really don't think that most adcomms are going to hold it against someone, that would be highly unprofessional.
Considering it is all a numbers game, if your "friend" has the numbers then I don't think it is going to hurt him as long as it is worded as politely, like above. No need to say you costarred in Kneepad Nymphos 257 or directed top actor Stud Studson. Saying you were employed by Playboy may hurt a bit but I truly think that adcomms are the sorts of people who would actually be above that sort of thing and realize it is an actual job and you weren't illegally whoring yourself out in a back alley.

can't believe this thread somewhat relates to me.
can't believe i think you should list it as work experience.
i was going to leave my part-time male modeling gig out, because i thought it would hurt my chances, but you got me questioning myself now...

I think this is different. If you did part-time for either a short time, or while doing something else like school, it isn't really a black mark like a 4 year gap of doing nothing is.
Can having porn on your resume hurt you? Of course it could, but I think if anybody is going to look past it, it would be adcomms. I really think that having "college 2002-2006" and no job afterwords is worse than "college 2002-2006, porn 2006-2010." I also think that porn is on a different level than modeling.
I guess one could fall back in the it's all just a numbers game argument and thus avoid putting it, but as I said I think that a 4 year gap is worse than porn. Others may, and probably do, disagree.

Trust me, there are more than a few pornstars with JD's - alot of them female, like my ex. She put it as "exotic" modeling, but some took the straightforward route and said they were doing the dirty flat out on the resume. You have to put it tastefully because it will make you stand out, and that can be either a very good or bad thing.

List it as what it is - raunchy porn. It's perfectly legal. Schools might hold it against him/her, but it'll still make a memorable application. Besides, who ever said lawyers prefer the moral high ground?
... just list it as producing independent film. Four years is too long to exclude it from a resume (unless he/she was doing something else notable during that time)

Employers definitely will.

No. Wish.
Anyway, to give this more depth, he has been doing the sort of softcore Cinemax stuff. He also has no idea whether or not he should incorporate any of this into his personal statement, and how he would do it.

This will probably make it easier to "camouflage." I would definitely avoid using it in the PS though.

This changes everything. That's not real porn.

His PS rough draft opened with something like, "Between her two upturned high-heels, I could make out in the distance the lawyer section of an opened yellow book..."
I told him to revise.

how would you list it? 'softcore pornography'? if so, do all adcoms know the diff btw softcore and regular? or will one of them have to explain the difference to the other?

Wait, there are people who don't know the difference between softcore and porn?

Your friend will get dinged because everyone hates softcore. It's worthless.

Yes, I am aware of that distinction. However, his "I don't want them to think I said around and did nothing for four years" rationale applies even more so to employers than it does to adcoms.

think educated, older people, i.e. adcom officers.
