Top Law Schools

My current GPA is around 3.85 and I scored a 173 on the LSAT.

The university I attend is not really heard of beyond my state. It's not a substandard school by any means. But it doesn't hold the prestige of Harvard or Yale or even well-known state schools.

With that in mind, am I still competitive for top-tier Law Schools such as Harvard or UCLA? And, if not, what kinds of law schools should I aim for?

As long as your undergrad university is accredited you will definitely be in somewhere in the t14 and most likely somewhere in the t6. Although unlikely you even have a chance at Harvard with a good PS and all that jazz. I believe someone from Bob Jones University got into Yale, and you be hard pressed to find a less respected university than BJU.

Numbers are the important parts of an application. As long as you don't have any red flags you should be viable at any schools your numbers would suggest. So if I were you I would apply to the whole T-14 and any regional schools you're interested in.

3.85 is actually below at HYS, and LSAT is at median at HY. So without a prestigious UG I wouldn't say it's competitive at HYS, but it is everywhere else.

Yeah, seems more likely to be a waitlist at harvard, but still a chance. +1 for competitive at everywhere besides HYS (I would still apply everywhere within the T14 though).
