MSU sent me an email after my application had gone under review essentially stating that they were impressed by my record and b/c of the increase in application volume, they wanted a second statement. There may or may not have been discussions relative to this topic before, but do you think this is at least somewhat of a positive sign that I'm definitely under strong consideration? My assumption is that if they didn't like what they saw, they would have denied me summarily. Does that logic hold true for most of you or is this something you think they asked all applicants to submit? Again, my simple reasoning is 'why would they want to read a second statement from applicants who are going to inevitably be denied?'

Check the MSU thread on the Accept/Deny/Waitlist board or whatever it's called... a lot of people got this.
