Any benefits to submitting a seat deposit early?

Post by potofcold » Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:23 pm

Are there any real benefits to submitting a seat deposit early? For example, is there any difference between submitting it right after acceptance (let's say January) and submitting it right before the deadline? I assume not since your seat is still "reserved" for you even without the deposit until the deadline has passed, no?

Also, what happens in case of over-enrollment? Do the schools just have to accommodate?

No.

Edit to answer your other questions:Over-enrollment happened at quite a few lower ranked schools last cycle (or was it the one before), deferrals were recommended by the schools, but they had to accommodate anyone who decided to enroll. They won't rescind your admission once you have it unless it was contingent on grades if you are still in school or something similar.
