Did anyone write a "Why UCLA" essay?

I already wrote an essay (which UCLA encourages you to do) about how you would contribute to a specific program.

I've also prepared a "Why UCLA essay". So here's my question:

1. Is this too much?

2. Given that my PS and my specific program essay kiss ass, but my "why ucla" essay is fairly generic and "eh", is it even worth it.

3. But, can't hurt right?

dont write a why UCLA essay, especially if its generic. The specific program contribution should be enough

If ur other essays "kick ass," don't pull ur app down with a generic un-solicited one.
