I am applying for a subject-specific scholarship at one of the law schools to which I was accepted. While I am aware of these subject issues, I haven't been able to be directly involved with them because I am a reporter. Instead, I've written about these issues extensively.
This makes me a weird candidate. I've read the bios of people who have won this scholarship in the past, and most have direct contact with this subject. I suspect that I'm wasting my time filling out this application, but hey, I'm bored waiting for a rejection from my top school.
I'm not sure how much the average law school admissions counselor understands about journalism and the rigidities required. Should I write an addendum to my application explaining my background?
