a lot of schools ask that question; don't really know the complete reasoning behind it, but I can assure you that it is not limited to American. Putting down peer schools that you are applying to is generally TCR.

I would put down peer schools and maybe a school a little below that gives out money and a school a little above that you have a shot at.

YP... If they see that they're your safety, you're much more likely to get dinged/WLed

Either leave it blank (from my understanding, they can't MAKE you answer questions like that) or put down all peer schools/schools below them

I was admitted today...I just put the other D.C. schools and Maryland
