If I signed up for a retake for Dec and now I do not want to go through with it do I just need to email the schools I applied to and tell them? Will there be any negative consequences beside loseing the money

I doubt there would be any negative consequences from not taking the LSAT again.
They'll just assume you feel that what you got previously is probably "your test-taking level" and will judge you based on the first LSAT.
