Top Law Schools

You have no shot at any top 10 with your numbers as is. Even with a 170+ and a gpa of 3.3-3.4 you will be locked out at most t14s. Get a 170+ and ED to UVA.

It would be worth applying but you would have to look at splitter friendly schools. Out of the top 14 with those numbers Georgetown, UVA ED, NU with WE, would be your best shots.

Also Mid Jan apps are extremely late. But if you do get a 175 I wouldn't sweat it...you can always wait a year and apply.

Edit: If you are aiming for t14 it can only help and not hurt to retake this year. You literally have 0% shot at getting in as it is now so why wouldn't you retake?

If I were you, I would just retake in December then quit thinking about law school and focus on getting a 4.0 your last semester. Apply early next year. Splitters are unpredictable anyway, why add the harm of an extremely late application? Waste of application fees, IMO.

Yeah it certainly wouldn't HURT you to apply this cycle (except the application fee $$$$), just don't get your hopes really high.

But you would almost certainly do better next cycle if everything works out.

If I were you, I would work on getting those numbers up, finding something to do for next year (something relatively productive that might actually boost your chances to schools), and then apply EARLY in next year's cycle (and probably ED to UVA or something)--this should make for your best possible cycle, in my opinion.

Okay, thanks guys. Would teaching for Kaplan for one year open up the possibility of Northwestern next year? I know it's not your typical work experience, but I've taught jazz guitar all my life, and I would like to one day teach law.

I believe Kaplan's requirement for teaching basic courses is the 90th percentile. (~164~) And it can be on a Kaplan proctored exam.

I could be wrong though.

Absolutely with a 175+ you can get into NU next year. You'd also be competitive for MVP and G, and have a shot at CCN ED.
