I'm already complete everywhere (3.8/172) and thinking about retaking in Feb. just to improve my chances at HYS should I get waitlisted/held (seems pretty likely).

Do I need to email or call asking schools to review my app without the new score even though I'm complete? Will they all do this? I don't want it to affect my chances at CCN, where I have a decent shot without a retake (which could potentially go badly!)

The schools will review your file with whatever your current numbers are. In the event that you're waitlisted you can retake the February LSAT, notify them of your new score and ask them to consider your new score when selecting people off the waitlist.
