Why X essay
What schools require a why X essay I have been seeing so much about?

I'm not sure which schools flat-out require them, but Michigan, Penn, and Duke are pretty tough to get into without writing a "Why X"
EDIT: Actually Penn requires writing one of the additional essays.

Man, so I have my reccs in, my transcript in, my resume done, and almost done with my PS. I should be preparing why x essays too? Can you begin apps individually without subimitting them on lsac to see what each school requires? So confused

very few schools require why xs.
