I'm thinking of writing a DS. I've submitted most of my apps already. Do you think schools will be annoyed that I'm sending in a DS separately, and not with the rest of my app?

I can't speak for whether most schools would be annoyed or not, but I do know that some schools are fine with receiving supplemental essays separate from the rest of the application. Michigan is one.

write a nice email and ask them to attach the PDF to your file. The worst that can happen is the admin. assistant telling you that they can't do it, which won't negatively impact your file in anyway. The only time they will be annoyed is if you don't take no for an answer , or be rude to start off.
