The School's profile on TLS is very brief. Wondering if anyody knows anything about the school. (especially current students) The atmosphere? Job placement? Anything would be helpful.

Today i recieved a brochure in the mail about their binding early decision/presidential merit scholarship program. You apply Ed and if you get in you must attend but you recieve a full scholarship. Caught my attention, thoughts anyone?

I am a 1L at GW. I can't speak to hiring as I haven't gone through OCI, but I love the campus / people / profs. What are your numbers / career goals / geographic preferences?

i have a 3.35 and a 165. I prefer the midwest and the east coast but i am very open to move. Career wise i am not 100% sure but i see myself working for 5-6 years then going into private practice. Because of the uncertainty i want to go to a school that will give me options and allow me to minimize debt.

With those numbers, you won't get in period. GW has medians of 3.79/167 and the full ride has medians of roughly 3.8/169.

Not sure about the full ride, but LSN has the medians at 165/3.59. I say its worth a shot at applying if you want to go or get a fee waiver but your GPA will hurt you.

Very interested in where you got those numbers, was thinking that I had a good shot at GW with 3.35 and 169 (hopefully in Dec).

Those were my numbers last year, I got in (GW 2L). There's nothing to be lost by applying.

ED medians were reported in another thread by someone who asked the admissions office. Overall medians found here: http://www.law.gwu.edu/News/newsstories ... dents.aspx

Thanks. This is pretty depressing. I was thinking that I'd be about .1 or so under their 25th gpa and 1 point over their LSAT 75th. But if their median is at 167, then their 75th is probably at 169 (not 168 as reported on TLS), no? How much will that hurt my chances?

Looks about 50/50 from LSN: http://gw.lawschoolnumbers.com/applican ... ,8&type=jd

Their numbers last year were 3.45/3.77/3.86, 163/167/168 so I'd bet on the 75th percentile staying at 168.

Ya, sorry. You should shoot an app, you could get admitted but there is no way you are getting ED.

Agreed with no ED chance, but might have a chance RD. Apps are down this year across the board I believe.

Another GW 1L here:

I'll defer to the 2Ls' knowledge of how we're doing job placement-wise. In terms of atmosphere, you'd have to be a little more specific, but so far I'm loving it here.

As to admissions, here's GW's breakdown of my class' entering stats. You can use the chart to help gauge your chances, though LSN paints a slightly more nuanced picture: http://www.law.gwu.edu/ADMISSIONS/JD/Pages/Profile.aspx

As far as jobs...

This is purely anecdotal, but I only know of one (2L) person who does not yet have summer employment lined up. It's a big school, though, so my knowledge is limited to my group of friends.

One good friend of mine (median grades) secured herself a paid job with a firm last summer (making BANK -- I have no idea how she managed it) and is still working for them now, and probably next summer.

Another friend of mine, top 15%, on LR, will be working for Covington. Most of my friends managed to get firm jobs (a couple of awesome ones, too), but a couple of people will be working for various governmental agencies like the EPA and the DoI.

The one friend is an anomaly -- he's top 15%, on LR, but didn't get a single bite during OCI from firms. He's sent out another round of resumes, will probably end up either at the PD's office like last summer or with a judicial internship (apparently he has a connection).

As far as the school itself, I love it. I really can't say enough nice things about the place -- the professors are awesome, the atmosphere is laid back (except around exams, of course), even our gunners aren't obnoxious about it. I've been having a great time so far.
