Michigan- We love graduates of...

I just received a letter saying that appeared to have a handwritten, not "fake handwritten but stamped" sentence at the bottom from the head admissions dean saying "We love graduates of Cornell University" along with a fee waiver notification. I checked the only other thread on this (
http://www.top-law-schools.com/archives ... &start=425), from a couple years ago, and apparently others have received this in the past.
I was wondering if Michigan does this when sending fee waivers to all students, regardless of the school you attended just to get you to apply, and if not, if they do factor the school you went to into your admissions decision.

It's not always about your UG, sometimes they will say like "we love people interested in public interest!" or "we love people from North Dakota" etc.
They just pull something from your CRS and write it, but pretty much all viewbooks they send out have a message like that from what I have seen.

yep... I had planned on not applying prior to the faux-personalized letter.

Yeah, everyone gets these. We should be feeling sorry for the secretary who has to "sign" all of them.

Mine just said they would "love" (underlined by hand) to have my application, but they flat out rejected me for a fee waiver. I felt jilted.

Someone wrote a note about my major by hand on my fee waiver letter. I thought it was a nice touch.

Exact same, but a) I did get a fee waiver and b) said fee waiver was very obviously signed by a completely different person than the other letter. Robo-signer fail, but we still love you Michigan for making the effort.

The entire package was just lovely. I'm just going to say that out of the MVPD crowd, which was basically on a level playing field for me prior to this, M moved up to first.
