Northwestern interview dress
So I have an on-campus interview later this month, and I am wondering--what's the appropriate dress? A suit? Can I get away with a jacket and pants? (Substantially more comfortable). It's hard to tell the formality of this interview.
Sorry if I missed a thread about this earlier?

I wore a suit to mine, but I was more overdressed than the guy interviewing me, who just had a sweater and khakis on. I don't think a suit is necessary, but it depends on the setting.

This is one time where there's no harm in being the one most dressed up. Wear a suit. I can't imagine that they get very many folks who don't.

Depends where the interview is scheduled.
Starbucks? You can risk formal casual.
Hotel lobby etc? Formal.

OP said on-campus, half of the responses are geared toward alumni interviews.
OP they are obviously more geared toward the older, professional type, and if I were you I would want to dress to impress. I think a tie would not necessarily be required, but I guarantee you that most people who do on campus interviews wear one and I would encourage you to as well.

I wore a suit too. Somewhere on the website (I think in the FAQs) it said that the interviews are business dress, which to me means suit.

Also, don't be thrown if your interviewer isn't wearing a suit. For him/her, it's just a normal day at work, and the dress code for most offices is business casual. I had an off-campus interview, but I imagine Northwestern's admissions office isn't business formal.

Can't you just wear your suit pants and throw the jacket on along with the tie when you're on your way to the interview?oxford_don wrote:Damnit. My office is business casual (dress shirt with slacks). I was just thinking of throwing a tie on.
