i know that schools won't look at my applications until my dec scores are in, but what's the advantage to turning them in now as opposed to january? will turning them in now put me at the top of their list so to speak, so that i'd be reviewed as soon as my scores come in? or will i just be even put in line to be reviewed once my scores are in, so it doesn't make sense to wait turn them in now? any advice appreciated!

Might get you ahead in the pile for some schools. (Ahead of other December takers)

you will be in the pile before the rest of the december takers.

only negative is that you cant explain a biig jump, or a decrease in your score

Unless you send in an addendum afterward to the Admissions office. Which isn't really that big of a deal.
