Any? 1? for example, an eloquently-written LoR from a dean that knows the student in question very well...

I'd rather have 1 point on the LSAT than a great LOR.
Unless that LOR is from an alumni who donated an entire library wing or such.

4-5. Maybe even 6 if it's written in English.

I think LORs have an effect, but not in the way you hope for. From what I've heard, it really just hurts a potential candidate if they don't have great LORs, but it doesn't really help a lot if you have great LORs. You have to understand that there are thounsands and thousands of people applying to law school. Odds are many will have better LORs than yours.
At the local Tier 3 back home, one of my friends had an LOR by a federal judge with whom she had worked with for years and who was almost her second father. She was 1 point below the median for LSAT, and her GPA was just about at the median. She didn't get in. I'm sure there might have been other reasons she didn't get in, so don't take too much from it, but I just don't think it does much. A great personal statement might make a slight difference.

This sums up TLSers approach to just about anything.

I always thought the real purpose of requiring letters of recommendation was to prove that somebody you did work for actually likes you, and maybe to reveal an achievement that doesn't fit into your personal statement or resume. But these intangible factors weigh so much less than the LSAT that I doubt a letter could be enough to get you into a school.

If I had a glowing letter from President Obama I would be pretty psyched.

It's worth 0.
LORs don't boost your application. You're expected to have them, and they matter in the sense that it affects your application whether you have good LORs or not, everyone applying to a top law school is going to be expected to have two great LORs. Instead, a bad LOR (or a lack of an LOR) can get an otherwise solid application dinged.

I agree. So if 1 LSAT Point > Great LOR, then Great LOR < 1 LSAT Point.
So to answer your question, a great LOR is worth somewhere between negative infinity to .999 LSAT points, with a 25 percentile of approximately 0, a median of 0, and 75 percentile of 0.

haha flaw in reasoning?
Anyways, I agree with most of the posts. I do think, however, that it can compliment a resume and a personal statement well though, and perhaps even be the make-or-break factor in
some applications.

This can be said for about just about any soft factor...

I'm going to revise my previous response and say this probably does matter at Yale and Stanford. Only came to mind because of this Form C business. Between a 177 with completely meaningless recs and a 175 with very detailed and persuasive recs... I'm going for the 175 profile. Those schools are rather special cases however.
