I just got a fee waiver from Columbia despite being below both of their medians. But that's not the unusual part. In the email they stated being pleased with the "caliber of [my undergrad] students" and invited me to apply.

Has anyone else received an email like this?

I'm almost thinking of applying now, even though Columbia wasn't even one of my considerations before due to my numbers.

Also- I'm jealous you heard from Columbia.

What else are they going to say? "good job but it prob wasn't good enough" they are giving you a fee waiver to boost their numbers. (most likely) We all get them.

Yeah, I was just surprised that they mentioned my school.

I think a lot of people got an e-mail stating they were only getting the fee waiver because of their LSAT score. Getting a fee waiver is not really a sign that your chances of admission are good. I would not get your hopes up, but if you like the school, I would go for it - it will only cost you $12.

I don't think it's automated because they mentioned when they'd be visiting my campus. Of course, I've been out of school (and out of the area) for a few years so it's not like I can attend anyway.

Probably not a stock letter. The dean who wrote it probably searched long and hard for you through your friends and family, and had it dictated to his secretary while at sea. You're a shoe in.

When did you all get the fee waiver? I want one - I think my numbers should give me a shot... show me some love Columbia
