Applying to Berkeley tonight. I have heard that they only consider highest. Does this mean I should not submit an addendum? I took 3 times and got a 162 (swine-flu), 165 (transcription error), and 170. 3.88 GPA

Just let your numbers speak for themselves. It's not a ridiculous difference esp with the +/- 3 points, and they'll just assume that you studied and did better each time. If you write an addendum about your swine flu and transcription error, it may open the door to them thinking you just use excuses rather than accept your grade. Plus, transcription error is basically saying you made a careless mistake, so why not just let them think you improved by studying and working hard?

i agree w/ poster above - u're prolly good w/o an explanation. if you HAVE the extra time and have nothing to do, i don't think it would hurt to write them though, or at least JUST for the 162 cuz that's a legit reason. it prolly wont make a diff, but hey, if u have the time then y not - it wont hurt and it may help you out in some sort of slim and marginal way. for me, for admissions to berkeley, that reason is good enough to write it anyways.
