So just how big is this URM boost I keep hearing about?

3.74 UGPA at Columbia, 170 LSAT

I figured that I could apply with some hope to everything but HYS, but according to my counselor the mere fact that I was born south of the Rio Grande means that I'd be competitive anywhere.

Is this factually correct? Sounds iffy.
Is this morally correct? Also sounds iffy.

Factually correct. Worth applying to HYS.

Morals have nothing to do with it.

Uhh are you from The Republic of the Rio Grande?

If so you're definitely underrepresented in the legal profession

Yeah Mexico.

This level of AA seems absurd to me.

I wanted to retake the LSAT and shoot for 173-176. How marginal would that improvement be?

Depends where you want to go. But you're really a lock for most t14 schools with your numbers + URM status.

If you can score a 173-176 you'd be a lock for at least one of HYS, but as of now i'd say you have pretty solid shots at all of them.
