What was up with BU today?

Seems like a few people, myself included, got waivers from UVA, Georgetown, NYU, Michigan, UCLA, Duke, etc., but no lovin' from BU.

What is up with that? Do they use some criteria other than LSAT/GPA? Anyone have any ideas?

I got no love from Georgetown and everyone else. I'm so over it.

They straight out rejected my request.

Maybe you have hidden waivers?

I mean, not that I feel like I'm entitled to a free application or anything, but it'd just be nice if law schools could be a little more straightforward about how their merit-based waiver works - i.e. median GPA, LSAT cutoff, URM status, etc.

Same. Ironically, if I could have only chosen one to get a fee waiver from, it would have been UCLA.

I got BU and UVA only also, and I checked all my "hidden" waivers as well.

Which leads me to wonder... Kineticz, what're your stats?

Is there any rhyme or reason to the fee waivers? I can't seem to piece it together, I mean some people have amazing LSAT scores and get them, but some people with high 170s are not getting many at all (See the fee waiver thread). Weird...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure schools send out waivers on more than one day. So just because you didn't get one today doesn't mean you won't be getting one. For what it's worth my LSAT is 173 and I received waivers from:

NYU (hidden)
Michigan (hidden)
Duke PT
UCLA
UVa
Minnesota
South Carolina
USC

Edited: Added USC and changed "Virginia" to the correct term "UVa" :)

What the hell, not one from UVA? What's your LSAC GPA if you don't mind supplying that information? I'm working on a hypothesis that UVA favors high-GPA candidates for their waivers.

UVA is on that list. And 3.61, but I think CRS only supplies a GPA range, if I'm not mistaken (not looking at LSAC at all, so I'm halfway talking out of my ass).

Oh my mistake, I've seen Virginia as UVA so many times, I rather forgot that it could be called anything else. My apologies.

I don't know about GPA range... my CRS has my class rank / percentile and a very definitive GPA (4.01) on it.

No worries. And in that case I am probably just mistaken.

What were stats from people who got G'Town waivers? I am kind of surprised I didn't receive anything from them today. Still holding out hope, but with 7 others that I will likely use I can't really complain.

Haven't checked hidden ones yet

I was fortunate to have my few waived from BU today. Also received...

-UCLA (post application :()
-Virginia
-Duke
-Michigan
-Indiana
-WUSTL
-USC (just came now actually)

Does anyone know if UCLA will refund my fee?

3.7/169 for reference.

Anyone know the answer to the above? I was going to put out some apps tonight, but am hesitant to when I may get a fee waiver.

Also, just got USC, there really doesn't seem to be much method to the waiver madness. I'm from Michigan...WTF UMich

Do you mind if I ask your numbers? I was actually incorrect in stating I had already applied to USC, but via information in the e-mail I know they would not refund had you already applied. I'm glad I applied when I did because I really couldn't be sure of who would be sending me waivers. I would wait until maybe 3 PM tomorrow (I had about 4 by then today) and then submit your applications. GL!

Just curious, but will I not receive any fee waivers since I've already applied? I could really use the money.... I only got Michigan and Vandy before I sent mine in. I'm especially thinking about hidden fee waivers. Since I've already paid through LSAC, I'd have no way of finding that, right? I'm pissed I didn't get a single fee waiver today. Damn.

I really doubt they can refund your money once you hit the big "PAY LSAC" button =-/

Indeed, Columbia's only works one way as well.
