Applying in Nov. but still taking Dec 2010 LSAT?

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if I could get some feedback on an idea floating around in my brain.
Here are my numbers/resume...
-3.18 Undergrad GPA - 2005
-4 years of work experience (working with students and community development)
-4.0 Graduate GPA - 2011 (I know it only counts as a soft)
-163 LSAT
My quandary is that I want to take advantage of getting my apps in early in the cycle, but I really feel that I can improve my LSAT score by 4-5 points with more studying. Should I submit my applications now, take the LSAT in December, and then send the schools my updated scores? Would this be helpful, hurtful, or am I merely in some sleep-deprived haze?
