Worthy of a GPA addendum?

While on one hand a death in the family is a worthwhile reason to write an addendum, I wouldn't necessarily claim to them that your trend shows your grades don't reflect your potential. Your other 3 years together are roughly a 3.1, compared to your cumulative 2.9, that probably isn't a statistically significant difference to them.

2.9 vs 3.1 in admissions would be huge for me - I know an addendum wouldn't help with that because they just care about what gets reported. So i guess an addendum would only hold weight so far as them seeing "oh hey, theres a legit reason why he did so bad sophomore year" compared to just seeing my grades and saying "He did real bad sophomore year, but the rest are low but not that bad"
