early low gpa vs late high gpa

Post by eduardo » Fri Oct 15, 2010 12:44 pm

In my freshmen and sophomore years in college I got a 2.5 and 2.4 GPAs respectively for each year. On my junior and senior years I got a 3.75 and a 3.4 GPA respectively and I managed to salvage my cumulative GPA to a 3.06. I feel that my junior and senior years are more representative of what I'm capable than my freshmen and sophomore years. Do law schools take that into consideration or do they just look at the LSAC GPA?

Upward trend will be only a very slight plus. They pretty much go by LSAC GPA.

I am not sure if I am answering your question correctly, but LSAC sends a transcript summary report to the law schools. Meaning, the schools will be able to see your upward grade trend as the years progressed. I know they do favor an upward grade trend so I am sure they will take this into consideration.

By the way, I am in the same boat. I took a college course in high school so my first GPA listed is a 2.67 then 3.10, 3.0 (summer course), 3.23, 3.83.; final acculm 3.39...so I too, hope they will take this into consideration!
