Question about taking a semester off

On the applications to several schools, it is asking if you have ever had a semester or longer lapse in your undergraduate studies. My question is, if you did register but then withdrew is that still a lapse even though you were registered at one point?

I had enrolled in 2 classes for Summer 2007 and withdrew before they started...not that this would be indicated on the transcript...it simply states W for the grade. In Fall 2007 I attended a different school for half the semester and then withdrew (I do not have a transcript on file for this school as I have a financial obligation). So, essentially I did not really complete any classes after the end of Spring 2007 until Spring 2008.

Should I or should I not answer yes to that question?

I would say yes. Its honest, and its probably not going to be that big of a deal if you have a legit excuse (not 'I wanted to get drunk for 3 months and not study').

When in doubt, disclose. I had a semester in which I enrolled and then withdrew partway through, but I still wrote an addendum for schools that asked about a semester away, since I didn't actually complete anything.

And it didn't seem to have even the slightest impact, in case you're worried about that.
