Top Law Schools

So I bombed the LSAT (obviously), have a lower GPA, and am wondering what my chances are for admission to a few specific schools (hamline, William Mitchell, and university of st Thomas). I graduated from the university of Kansas with a BA in geology. I averaged over a 3.2 gpa over my last two years, participated in multitude of intramural sports and campus clubs, participated in a pre- law institute at Cambridge in England through the university of Kansas. I have glowing recommendation letters from professors, one who is a region admin for the EPA and is a professor for the law school at KU. What are my chance and how can I maximize my credentials for admission?

We need to know the circumstances of the 148. Ice cold, or after months of studying? I got a 152 on my first LSAT and now I'm at a t14.

Ok, well sufficed to say I actually have retakem it and have gotten the exact same score...what else

You do get 3 chances. It's gonna be a while from now that you take it 2 more times if you take it 2 more times so cross that bridge when you come to it.

Get the Powerscore Logical Games and Analytical Reasoning Bibles from Amazon. They're great study aids, and helped me improve my score ~15ish points in a couple of months. Good luck with the retake!

Retake. If you don't feel like you can put in the months of preparation to do that, no offense, but I think it would be in your best interest to take a different career path.

Well, unfortunately for me, I am not flaming. I seriously effed up the test twice and am wondering what my chances are given those stats. Is it a good idea to take the test a third time? And yes, logic test screwed me both times.

Logic games are the most learnable part of the test. Study and retake.

+1. Your GPA is not going to do you any favors; you really, really need to compensate with a good LSAT score if your hope is to get into a decent law school/have a job after graduation.

So what I'm gathering here is focus on the logic games portion of the test for the next month and a half, retake the LSAT (for the third time), and apply when I receive my final scores. As opposed to applying now (read: early) and hoping for the best. I am seriously considering Hamline because they have a special admissions program for stronger cantidates whose indicator numbers are below average. How much credence is given by admissions to other factors such as GPA trend, recomendation letters, and personal experieces (prestigious study abroad programs)?

I'm confused, how are you a "stronger" candidate when you have done excruciatingly poorly on every indicator?

Honestly, it's probably negligible unless your GPA or LSAT is above their median.

In the interest of actually answering the question you're below the 25th percentile in both categories for ll these schools so your chances are more or less zero on any fair basis. However these tiny mpls schools are more willing than most to use blatant nepotism (since the oly people getting jobs from them are people with strong connections in the mpls law community anyway) so if you happen to be super good friends or close relatives with successful alums you can possibly get above a coin flips chance.

They won't compensate for really low numbers like yours. Much of the competition will already have comparable softs, so it's not as big of a deal as you may think it to be. If you study the LG the proper way you can easily break 150. And you're not alone, I had trouble with the LSAT at first too, but the more I practiced the more I improved in the LG section.

Oh and you can plug your numbers into lawschoolpredictor.com and see a rough estimate of your chances. If you can score 3-5 more points on the LSAT, which isn't hard, your chances change considerably.

Well thanks for the replies everybody, I guess I'll have to weigh my options and pursue the one that best fits my current situation.
