Best way to send LoRs?
Sorry if this has already been answered, but can I ask my recommenders to fax AND snail-mail their letters to LSAC? I know the turnaround time for faxed LoRs is considerably shorter than it is for mailed LoRs, but I have also heard that the faxed letters/cover sheets might not come through legibly enough. Has anyone ever asked recommenders to submit both ways? Thanks in advance.

Legibility is not a black or white proposition, in my opinion. Might be legible, but not nearly as crisp as snail mail. I would much prefer to read something that was NOT faxed. Whether or not this matters in acceptance? Prolly not, but at the very least I figure it can't hurt for your app to be clear.
(I realize there is a trade-off with getting them in earlier. I'm just talking "all things being equal" 'cause I'm waiting for my Oct. score anyway. If you want a solid answer I'd look for someone who's worked in admissions)

Just fax. I think one mailed because he didn't want to go try and find a fax machine, and sent a long rant about people who still use faxes to me.

Fax. There have been too many people that have had to wait 4+ weeks after mailing. Faxing is a lot less stressful.

I waited 4.5 weeks after one of mine was mailed and it never showed. I had her fax it and it was processed 2 days later.CGI Fridays wrote:4+ weeks? Are you serious?Sentry wrote:Fax. There have been too many people that have had to wait 4+ weeks after mailing. Faxing is a lot less stressful.

I know there are at least a couple of people on here who sent in letters last cycle that never processed. Nope middle of the country.CGI Fridays wrote:How many others have had this experience though?Sentry wrote:I waited 4.5 weeks after one of mine was mailed and it never showed. Wow. Thanks!
I guess I'll ask them to mail but save a copy just in case, then fax by the 26th if it doesn't process.

If you need the LOR posted within a month, I would fax it. Otherwise, you can mail it in and then fax it later if there's a problem.
