GPA +, LSAT -, Michigan Realistic?

Okay, so I'm a realistic guy... Here's my numbers...LSAT 165, GPA 3.98
I recently received, out of the blue, a packet from Michigan Law School with a letter encouraging me to apply. With a 169 medium, I hadn't even considered spending the $75 to apply, but now I'm thinking maybe it's worth a shot.
Any thoughts? I have had somewhat of a crazy life journey to get to this point and I think that my personal statement is very, very strong.

It's not that much money in the long run. If I had a 3.98, I'd blanket most of the T7-14. Just my $0.02. Good luck.

Definitely. If T14 is your goal i would pick between MVP and apply ED. Seems through this cycle that you would be a lock at virginia ED with your numbers.

He indeed has a stellar GPA, but why blanket most of the T7-14 with an LSAT of 168? It's widely held that LSAT > GPA; it may have been not as difficult to achieve a high GPA at the UG institution he attends.
[When I say this I don't mean to take away from his merits in any way.]

I agree that u should prolly apply to some of the lower t-14, and consider EDing at one of them. MVP is a reach even w/ ED i think. Sorry to say, but getting a packet from a school doesn't indicate any real admissions possibilities. Maybe try D?
Honestly, with your GPA, I think you should re-take that lsat, cuz man....that's a solid GPA and if u can raise ur LSAT 3-5 points, that will make a huge difference.

I certainly would apply. Are you a Michigan resident?
A girl I know who was an MI resident was admitted to Michigan in the regular decision cycle with a 4.0 and a 160 LSAT. I know that's super anecdotal, but it can happen.

You WILL be in at one of MVP especially UVA ED. Your numbers are better then mine and i got in. You would have to do it reallll soon though

I'm not a Michigan resident, but Michigan sent me a viewbook and I took a good hard look at my numbers and what Michigan accepts and I figured, "Why the heck not?" It's a great school and I feel I have excellent work experience and other softs! Would love to get in there, it's probably my second choice after UCLA (which is only #1 because I live in LA!)

I ED'd at UCLA, but I did apply to Michigan and UVA at the beginning of the month (hopefully, nice and early in the process). Where'd you get in at? And what were your #'s if you don't mind me asking...I love hearing that people with LSAT scores comparable to mine, and not 170+ like seemingly everybody else on here, were able to get into top schools!
